Access is via Monsaraz Boulevard and Lisbon Street. There is no direct vehicle access from Halswell Road at this stage.

The current access points were approved as part of the planning and consent process. Direct access from Halswell Road is not part of this stage of development.

The road layout has been designed and reviewed by the relevant transport authorities and must meet national safety standards. A traffic safety audit was undertaken before construction, and another one will take place once works are complete. Safety for motorists and people coming into The Acres is paramount and has guided all of the road planning.

Future stages in the wider area may include additional access arrangements, but for now entry to The Acres remains via Monsaraz Boulevard and Lisbon Street.

The Acres will eventually span 9.5 hectares of retail, food and beverage, and commercial space in an open air, village style setting. The vision has always been to create something that feels connected to Halswell’s landscape, history and community.

The name reflects Halswell’s agricultural heritage and the wider Canterbury Plains. This land has long been a place to meet, work and gather, and that sense of history influenced the name.
